World of Warcraft Classic: The Alliance Heroes of Azeroth

Last week, we went through the story of the Warcraft games, leading to World of Warcraft Classic. That allowed us to discover the origins of the conflict between the forces of the Alliance and the Horde. With phase 6 of WOW Classic just around the corner and legions of fans waiting for the confirmation, whether or not, Blizzard intends to bring the burning crusade to the game, we will continue our retrospective of the game’s story. This week we will talk about the Alliance and tell you everything you need to know about that faction.

In WOW Classic, the Alliance is composed of four playable races: the Humans, the NightElves; the Dwarves, and the gnomes. The Humans are the leaders of the Alliance, despite being the youngest race on Azeroth. Their faction leader is BolvarFordragon and their starting city in the game is Stormwind, which was rebuilt since its destruction by the horde. Humans can access the following races: mage, paladin, priest, rogue, warlock, and warrior. Humans are one of the only two races in the game that can become paladins.

The Night Elves are a race of magic, a power they used to create a great empire. It was their usage of magic, which led the Burning Legion to attack Azeroth. During the events of Warcraft 3, they sacrificed the world tree and thus their immortality, to stop Archimonde and the forces of the Burning Legion. They are the only race in the Alliance that can become druids; they can also become hunters, priests, rogues, and warriors. Their capital city is Darnassus and their leaders are Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage.

The Dwarves come from the eastern region of Azeroth, their race is divided into three main clans, the Bronzebeards, the Wildhammers, and the Dark Irons. They have access to the following classes, hunter, paladin, priest, rogue, and warrior. The capital city of the Dwarves is the city of Ironforge. Their leader in WOW Classic is Magni Bronzebeard, the brother of Muradin Bronzebeard, who became the first victim of prince Arthas after the latter picked his cursed sword Frostmourne.

Lastly, we have the Gnomes, their race relies heavily on technology. They can become mages, rogues, warlocks, and warriors. They have the same capital city as the Dwarves, Ironforge and the leader of their faction is GelbinMekkatorque. In the next article of this series, we will cover the forces of the horde.
